Interested to see any info on Lilian French listed as one of the casuallties of Bethnal Green disaster in WW2.

Confusion has crept in here. Should be Jessie Elizabeth Brooks nee Dearman not Jessie Alexandra Brooks nee Brown (she died in 12/3/1945).

This Jessie is the mother of the Henry Brooks who also died in the disaster.

Hiya Meg! Unfortunately I can't quite answer your question. I *think* the list near the top of page 1 is up to date, but I'm not positive.

Victoria has a spreadsheet with all the outcomes on it so you could send her your email address and get her to send you a copy. It being Easter weekend, give her a couple of days, I'd say.

Yes - Ancestry trees were used by a couple of people, and I was saying that would be a next good line of attack.

And if you want to try any of the "no matches in trees" people against Ancestry trees, that would be excellent. You'd be starting that next line of attack.

Margaret Ridgeway is the Margaret McKay who appeared on Missing on 3rd April.

On today's programme Alf visited a church local to the Tube Station to look a Parish Registers for Baptisms of possible Chumleys.

Dear Deborah. Wow! Yes it is the same Mary Morris. (Ivy Hewitt) who died in the Bethnal Green Tube disaster in 1943. She was the first wife of my husband's father, Leslie George Hewitt. I don't think they had any children, but I can't be sure. She was about 27 when she died. I think her parents were Frederick J Morris and Margaret M Murphy who married in Bethnal Green in 1913. In searching for it, I did read this first-person account from one of the memorial organizers who was a child at the time and one of the survivors; how sad it was.

Missing children

It was only as incomplete families returned home that the Bethnal Green community discovered what had happened, he says.

"We all walked home and then people didn't arrive. There was a little girl who my mother looked after. She didn't turn up, so I went to school without her.

"When I got to school, there were children missing. In one case, there was seven went to the Tube and only one came up, the whole family was gone."

Did you see MISSING (BBC 9.15 am this morning).

It featured a lady who was the youngest survivor (aged 6 months). Her mother died in the incident. She was bought up by a step mother but didn't know this until she was about 20 although she had been told by another child when she was 10 but her father denied it.

She has now found a lady of 91 years young who knew her mother and has been able to tell her of their times together.

Had a message about Rosina (Wheeler) Papworth from Diana who may have her in her Papworth family. Have passed the contact link on to Victoria and told Diana how to contact BGTD1943 by searching trees, and given her Anna's email address.

I think people are PMing me when they see the list on page 1. Janice was the one who researched Papworth, but would not have contacted Diana since she doesn't have Rosina or her husband Henry Papworth in her tree.

Please clarify as you say he never marries but then give a marriage

I had an email from Gerald re.Rose Maud Leggett nee Gable and confirmed that she was killed along with her husband and son. His grandfather was Rose's uncle.

I also told him to contact Vicci to gain access to the tree.

I'm doing my best to collate everything now so I don't have to do it all in one go again (that'll teach me for not making the time before...but, sadly, shiftwork doesn't always allow the luxury of time)

Anyway, I'm up and running now...I think. Any advice gratefully received though, thanks.

Vicci, I'm not sure if I have the most up-to-date spreadsheet, can you send me the link again please?

hello. Thomas Gable was my Grandfathers Brother. His was killed in action 15 Aug 1915 at Galipoli Turkey . His parents where Nathanial and Isabella Gable maiden name Orange . The Orange family link back to france. My mother evelyn gable was in bethanal green at the time of the tube disaster. Her brother was in the ARP air raid service . Regards Gerald

Of her children only George and Iris are still alive.

I have a different spelling of Rose's surname, which may be why I wasn't getting anywhere with tracking down her side of the family tree but will check with relatives and get back to you.

I'll also check whether George and Iris wish to be contacted.
