Hello, I'm trying to find information on a Margaret ADLAM born about 1800, who married a Sidney(Sydney) James STEPHEN in Bermuda in about 1819. I believe that Margaret's father's name was Alexander ADLAM and he was a St Kitts (St Christopher, Caribbena Islands) merchant. Sidney (Sydney) James STEPHEN was the son of Judge John STEPHEN, who was also in the West Indies. The STEPHEN family, including Margaret and Sidney STEPHEN came to Australia in the 1820's, the men taking up positions within the legal fraternity. Margaret and Sidney STEPHEN wen to New Zealand, where Sidney took a posting as a Judge, he, Sidney, dying in Auckland in1851. Margaret came back to Australia after Sidney's death and died in Melgbourne in 1875. If you have any information, or could tell me where I could find information on the marriage it would be appreciated. I have left messages on a couple of Caribbean boards but have had no reply. Any help greatly appreciated. |
